Dr. Emily Johnston

Clinical Pharmacist, Department of Orthopedic Surgery, Halifax Infirmary

Dr. Emily Johnston is a Clinical Pharmacist in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the Halifax Infirmary site of the QEII Health Sciences Centre. The majority of her time is spent on the Trauma Unit caring for a variety of orthopedic surgery patients and their medication related needs during their hospital stay. She also works closely with the Orthopedic Research team with current projects addressing post-operative pain control. This work has led to a new innovation project she developed with funding from the Nova Scotia Health Catalyst Innovation Fund.

Dr. Johnston also holds the role of Pharmacist, Innovation Champion for the Nova Scotia Health Innovation Hub. Our Pharmacist, Innovation Champion takes a leadership role and acts as ambassador to support new innovators and their project needs, providing strategic insights on the execution of key initiatives related to developing health innovations and commercialization strategies. The role provides mentorship, advice and guidance to increase curiosity, entrepreneurship, innovation and commercialization for the Nova Scotia Health teams.
