Dr. Jan Sommers

Medical lead, Emergency, Colchester East Hants

Dr. Jan Sommers graduated from Dalhousie Medical School in 2005 and graduated from the Northumberland Family Medicine Program in 2007. She completed an additional year of training in Emergency Medicine at Dalhousie University and began working at Colchester East Hants Health Centre as an emergency physician in 2008. Since completing her training she has worked continuously in the emergency department, with additional work in family practice, hospitalist medicine, and breastfeeding medicine. She has a passion for teaching learners of all levels, and particularly enjoys engaging learners in "big picture" thinking. Current projects include supporting the development of a simulation program at Colchester East Hants Health Centre and exploring ways to leverage technology in the emergency department.
