What support will be given leading up to the regional events?
Participants will be given the opportunity to attend an hour-long virtual idea and pitch training session.
What if I don’t have a team?
No team, no problem! Participants looking for team members can register as individuals and request that they be assigned to a team. Once teams are assigned, contact information will be shared and it will be up to each respective team to ensure they meet requirements and adequately prepare for the regional event. Those who register as an individual will be sent an email notifying of team assignment by end of day on April 2, 2024.
What is the time commitment?
The "Holing Your Idea & Pitch" session in March is approximately one hour. Outside of this session, it is up to the discretion of each team how much time they would like to spend preparing. Teams should arrive at the regional events with a clear idea and an almost-polished pitch.
What is the format of the regional events?
Regional events will be roughly four hours in length and run from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
- 12:45 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. -- Registration
- 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. -- Mentorship
- 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. -- Pitches and deliberation
Teams are welcome to watch other teams deliver their pitches.
What are the prizes?
The winning team of each regional event will receive $2,000 and the champion team of the finale in May will receive $8,000. Prizes will be divided and distributed evenly among the team members.
Who will be judging the competitions?
Judges and mentors will consist of local entrepreneurs, mental health professionals and event partner representatives.
How long will each pitch be at the regional level?
Pitches will be approximately five minutes in length followed by questions.
What support will be given leading up to the final competition in Halifax?
After being selected to compete at the finals in Halifax, teams will be given the opportunity to sign-up for one-on-one virtual training with Dr. Emily Johnston, clinical pharmacist, founder of the Pain Coach App and innovation champion at the Nova Scotia Health Authority, as well as Shawn Adderley, Manager, Business Development at the Nova Scotia Health Innovation Hub whose work focuses on innovation and entrepreneurship.
How long will each pitch be at the final competition in Halifax?
Pitches will be approximately six minutes in length followed by questions.
If my team is selected to compete in the final competition in Halifax, will the costs be reimbursed for travel?
Participants traveling to Halifax for the final competition will have costs reimbursed depending on distance travelled. Please contact us if you need more clarification before the regional competition.
