Research Development

News and Updates RSS

The Research Development team is responsible for developing strategies for future growth, increasing research revenue and developing funding partnerships with industry and government. These responsibilities are carried out within the context of creating and capturing synergies with clinical services and in a manner that nurtures relationships with academic stakeholders and partners.

At the operational level, Research Development is responsible for identifying and supporting research groups in their pursuit of major research funding opportunities. This is done through supporting grant application development, award contract management, and project management.

Grant Support

Investigator initiated/lead research is an integral part of the research landscape at Nova Scotia Health. This research comes in many forms; Health Canada regulated drug, device and natural health product clinical trials, non-regulated clinical trials, prospective cohort study, retrospective chart review, randomized controlled trials, pilot studies, systematic review, qualitative research design, etc.

Most often, there are direct costs associated with this research that require funding in order to cover these costs and bring these studies to fruition. These funds may be the result of a grant award, financial support from industry, a donation or foundation funding.

If you or a member of your team are thinking of applying for external grant funds (i.e. from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, Research Nova Scotia, or other sponsors) please reach out to Research Development staff. Research Development is committed to facilitating the applications, budgets, agreements, and approvals necessary to assist Investigators and Research Teams to complete their proposals and engage in research.
