The Atlantic Clinical Trials Unit, led by Nova Scotia Health and co-led with IWK Health, Eastern Health, Vitalité Health Network, Horizon Health Network, and Health PEI, ACTN is poised to boost research and innovation, introduce new healthcare opportunities, and position the region as a world-leader in clinical trials. Nova Scotia Health’s research team in Respirology, which is supported by the organization’s Clinical Trials Unit within the Nova Scotia Health Innovation Hub, has been a key partner with Vertex Pharmaceuticals on clinical trials for cystic fibrosis treatments since 2010. This has led to the development of Trikafta, a new drug which has been referred to as the biggest innovation in cystic fibrosis treatment. Read the full story.
