Fee Criteria

The NS Health REB review fees apply to industry sponsored and industry funded studies, meaning that the industry is contractually receiving data/publication rights and/or access to records.

The fees apply to the review of the application and not the REB approval.  Fee are refunded and invoices cancelled if the application is withdrawn before the application is sent for review.

Review Fee Schedules

Initial Review Fee: A $4000 CAD review fee is charged for the initial REB review of Full Board and delegated applications meeting the criteria outlined above.

Continuing Review Fee: A $500 CAD fee is charged for each annual renewal of studies that meet the criteria outlined above. 

Major Amendment Fees:  A $250 CAD fee is charged for amendments that are accompanied by a No Objection Letter from Health Canada.  

Archived Review Fee: a $100 fee will be charged to retrieve any closed study.  

How To Pay the Fees

Principal Investigators (PI) are responsible for submitting their billing form along with their REB application and Event forms at submission when their application meet the criteria above.  If the billing form is not attached or incomplete, the application or Event will be return to the PI and the application/event will lose its position in the review queue.

Fees are invoiced directly to sponsors by Nova Scotia Health Research Finance.

The billing form templates are located in the Attachment tab within the online REB application or Event form in ROMEO.
